Basketball Queensland has entered a partnership with Gatorade to support the Fuel Tomorrow program, an initiative aimed at improving confidence among teenage athletes and reducing dropout from sport.

Research funded by Gatorade and led by La Trobe University found that confidence is a major barrier to teen sport participation, and that coaches are the most influential factor in building or reducing that confidence, followed by parents and teammates.

Fuel Tomorrow's coach resource is Gatorade Coach Hub, a free online platform for coaches of all sports. It can be accessed on any device and includes short videos and tools covering four areas: belonging and inclusion, amplifying young player voices, creating positive experiences, and setting values and behaviours. Content is also organised around four points in the season: pre-season, season launch, mid-season and end of season. Gatorade also offers a range of additional resources for coaches through the program.

Under the partnership, Basketball Queensland's upcoming Coaches Courses will be powered by Gatorade. Coaches attending in-person sessions will be required to sign up to Coach Hub, and all coaches who sign up will receive a free Gatorade bottle.

Basketball Queensland Head of Commercial Lachlan Nuttall said the partnership supports the organisation's coaching program and builds on Gatorade's long-standing role in the sport.
