Basketball Queensland is proud to welcome Bunyarra Wellbeing Co. as an Official Partner of the 2025 First Nations Championships.

Led by Michael Sanford, Bunyarra is a wellbeing organisation committed to empowering communities, creating safe spaces, and normalising conversations around mental health and support. Their partnership reflects a shared belief that basketball is more than just a game, it’s a platform for connection, belonging, and cultural strength.

As part of the partnership, Bunyarra will be present throughout the Championships, supporting athletes and engaging directly with community. Attendees are encouraged to find Michael at the event and have a chat, he’ll be on the ground, connecting with players, families, and supporters.

“Michael has already been a strong contributor in our community for some time, and it’s great to have him supporting a space he’s clearly passionate about,” said Lachlan Nuttall, Commercial and Marketing Manager at Basketball Queensland.

This partnership also reinforces the growing strength of the Basketball Queensland Indigenous Pathways Program (BQIPP) and the role of culturally grounded support systems in our sport.
