Queensland Representatives Selected for Australia Ahead of Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games

Basketball Queensland is proud to congratulate a number of Queensland athletes and coaches who have been selected to represent Australia at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, with Basketball Australia today confirming the squads for the Basketball 3x3 and Wheelchair Basketball 3x3 competitions.

The announcement highlights the strength of Queensland basketball, with several Queensland representatives earning the opportunity to wear the green and gold on one of the world's biggest sporting stages.

Queensland Talent to Represent Australia

Among those selected are Queensland athletes Jarred Bairstow, Hannah Dodd and Eithen Leard, who will compete as part of Australia's Commonwealth Games campaigns.

Bairstow has been named in the Gangurrus 3x3 Men's Team, alongside Jonah Antonio, Samuel McDaniel and Jesse Wagstaff.

Dodd has earned selection in the Wombats 3x3 Women's Team, joining Georgia Munro-Cook, Taishar Ovens and Ebony Stevenson.

Leard has been selected in the Wombats 3x3 Men's Team, where he will team up with Tomas Klein, Tom O'Neill-Thorne and Luke Pople as the reigning Commonwealth Games gold medallists look to defend their title.

Basketball Queensland would also like to acknowledge Samuel McDaniel, who currently represents Queensland through the Brisbane Bullets and Ipswich Force, and has been selected in the Gangurrus 3x3 Men's squad.

McShane Earns Australian Coaching Appointments

Adding to Queensland's representation, Basketball Queensland Wheelchair High Performance Manager Matthew McShane has been appointed as Assistant Coach of the Australian Wombats Men's 3x3 Team for Glasgow 2026.

A highly respected figure within Australian wheelchair basketball, McShane brings extensive experience to the role as a two-time Paralympian and former Australian Rollers athlete. The appointment adds to an already significant year for McShane, who was recently announced as Assistant Coach of the Australian Gliders, Australia's national women's wheelchair basketball team.

His dual appointments further highlight his contribution to wheelchair basketball in Queensland and Australia, and reflect the strength of the state's high-performance wheelchair basketball program.

Glasgow 2026 Awaits

The Basketball 3x3 and Wheelchair Basketball 3x3 competitions will be held from 24–29 July 2026 in Glasgow, Scotland, with Australia's teams set to challenge for medals against the Commonwealth's best nations.

Basketball Queensland congratulates Jarred Bairstow, Hannah Dodd, Eithen Leard and Matthew McShane on their selection and wishes all Australian representatives the very best as they prepare to compete in Glasgow.

Their selections are a testament to the quality of athletes and coaches emerging from Queensland and the impact they continue to make on the national and international stage.
