Queenslanders recognised on the Australia Day 2026 Honours List

Basketball Queensland proudly congratulates four Queensland Basketball Life Members who have been recognised on the Australia Day 2026 Honours List for their outstanding service to basketball and the wider community.

The Australia Day 2026 Honours List recognises 949 Australians across the Order of Australia, meritorious awards and distinguished service, an increase of more than 200 recipients compared to last year. Of the 680 awards in the General Division of the Order of Australia, four members of Queensland’s basketball community were acknowledged.

Two Life Members were appointed as Members of the Order of Australia (AM).

Two Life Members were awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM).
• Ken Madsen
• Bob Lambourn

Each has made a lasting contribution to basketball in Queensland, and their national recognition reflects decades of leadership, service and commitment to the game. Basketball Queensland congratulates Terry, Fred, Ken and Bob on this well-deserved honour and thanks them for the impact they have had on our basketball community.
