Basketball Queensland Elevates High Performance with Cutting-Edge Hudl Technology

Basketball Queensland Elevates High Performance with Cutting-Edge Hudl Technology

Basketball Queensland (BQ) is thrilled to announce a significant step forward in its commitment to developing athletes and coaches through the integration of state-of-the-art Hudl video technology at the Logan Metro Sports & Events Centre. BQ’s continued partnership with Hudl has seen Hudl Focus Indoor cameras installed across all courts at BQ’s home base, perfectly complemented by the portable Hudl Focus Flex, ideal for offsite High Performance events.

This strategic move underscores BQ’s vision for the future, particularly with the Brisbane 2032 Olympics on the horizon. Todd Flahey, General Manager of Basketball at Basketball Queensland, emphasised this ambition.

“At Basketball Queensland, our focus is firmly on developing the next generation of athletes and coaches as we look toward Brisbane 2032. The integration of Hudl video technology into our High Performance Centre in Logan is a major step forward in achieving that vision.”

Charlie Molloy, Hudl Elite Account Executive (Basketball), echoed Flahey’s sentiments.

“Hudl is excited to be working with Basketball Queensland in 2025 and beyond, delivering industry-leading, AI-powered camera technology to elevate the experience for every BQ athlete. This investment reflects BQ’s commitment to their program and innovative approach to player and coach development.”

The Hudl Focus Indoor camera is set to be a game-changer for capturing and analysing on-court action. This fully automated system will automatically record high-definition video from optimal angles. The footage will then be seamlessly uploaded directly to the Hudl platform, offering unparalleled access for both coaches and players, and providing enhanced opportunities for development.

“Through detailed video review and performance analysis, we’re equipping our athletes with the tools to refine their game and reach the next level — not just physically, but tactically as well,” explained Flahey.

By simplifying video capture and eliminating manual processes, Hudl Focus Indoor will empower BQ coaches and High Performance staff to concentrate more effectively on player development and strategic planning. The efficiency gained through automation will allow more time to be dedicated to direct player coaching, a point highlighted by Molloy.

“With Hudl Focus’ automatic full-court capture and automatic uploads, Basketball Queensland has ensured that no moment on the court is ever missed, and all teams have fast, seamless access to video and analysis tools.”

For High Performance activities taking place beyond Logan Metro, the Hudl Focus Flex offers a versatile and valuable solution. This portable camera provides high-definition video capture, an AI tracking system to ensure comprehensive coverage of the action, and seamless integration with Hudl Sportscode. This will make valuable review and analysis accessible to all BQ athletes and coaches, including those participating at regional High Performance hubs.

The implementation of this advanced technology also signifies a significant boost for coach development within Queensland, as Flahey emphasised.

“This platform enhances the education and development of our Queensland coaches, giving them access to professional-grade tools that support deeper game insight, better teaching moments, and more strategic training environments. It’s about creating a high-performance ecosystem that lifts everyone and positions Queensland as a genuine leader in Australia’s basketball future.”

With the integration of Hudl Focus Indoor and Focus Flex, Basketball Queensland is empowering its athletes and coaches with the essential tools and technology to excel. This exciting partnership with Hudl marks a new era for basketball development in the state, solidifying BQ’s commitment to innovation and its pursuit of excellence on the road to Brisbane 2032 and beyond.
