Everything You Need to Know About the 2026 CBSQ

Basketball Queensland’s Champion Basketball School of Queensland (CBSQ) tournaments are set for another massive year in 2026, with key dates now locked in across the state. Featuring Queensland’s best school teams, CBSQ brings together thousands of athletes for a series of high-quality competitions, all leading to the ultimate showdown on one stage.

Participation has skyrocketed in recent years, with the tournament growing from 311 teams in 2020 to 649 team nominations in 2024. More than 4.000 student-athletes from across Queensland take part annually, making CBSQ the largest school basketball competition in the state.

2026 CBSQ Key Dates:

CBSQ Regionals

  • Townsville: 3–4 March – Carmichael Ford Stadium
  • Sunshine Coast: 10–11 March – Caloundra Indoor Stadium
  • Brisbane: 17–18 March – Rowland Cowan Stadium
  • Gold Coast: 24–25 March – Venue TBC
  • Rockhampton: 19–20 May – Bravus Arena
  • Logan: 19–20 May – Logan Metro Sports and Events Centre

CBSQ Wildcards

  • Open Boys: 12–13 May – Logan Metro Sports & Events Centre / Cornubia Park Sports Centre
  • Open Girls: 26–27 May – Logan Metro Sports & Events Centre / Cornubia Park Sports Centre
  • Junior Secondary: 9–10 June – Logan Metro Sports & Events Centre / Cornubia Park Sports Centre
  • Sophomore: 16–17 June – Logan Metro Sports & Events Centre / Cornubia Park Sports Centre

CBSQ Primary

  • 5x5: 2 June – Logan Metro Sports & Events Centre
  • 3x3 Girls: 17–18 August – Logan Metro Sports & Events Centre
  • 3x3 Boys: 19–20 August – Logan Metro Sports & Events Centre

CBSQ Major Tournament

  • Opens: 17–20 September – Coomera Indoor Sports Centre / Runaway Bay Indoor Stadium
  • Junior Secondary: 15–18 October – Coomera Indoor Sports Centre / Runaway Bay Indoor Stadium
  • Sophomore: 29 October–1 November – Coomera Indoor Sports Centre / Runaway Bay Indoor Stadium

CBSQ Inclusion

Date: 24 June 2026 – All Ages – 3x3
Venue: Logan Metro Sports and Events Centre
New in 2026, this competition is a celebration of inclusive basketball, this event features athletes of all abilities competing in a vibrant 3x3 format.

Registrations for all competitions will be opening later in 2025 for all competitions.
