Jarryd Moss joins BQ as Competitions and Community Manager
We are pleased to welcome Jarryd Moss to Basketball Queensland as the new Competitions and Community Manager.
Hailing from Country Victoria, Jarryd's connection with basketball began at eight years old. Growing up in a basketball-centric family where his parents volunteered in the sport, he developed a passion for all aspects of the game.
“I’ve always had a passion for the off-court side of the sport as well as the on-court side of things, I think that has given me perspective and an appreciation for all elements of the game.”
Jarryd brings with him a wealth of experience; he served as the Association Development Officer at Basketball Victoria and spent five years as the Basketball Development Manager at the Frankston and District Basketball Association.
Always eager for new challenges and adventures, Jarryd didn't hesitate when offered the position with Basketball Queensland.
“I could see that the sport here is growing, and the work and strategy behind what Basketball Queensland is doing was something I wanted to be part of.”
“The competition’s team here is exceptional, they’re great people, hardworking, dedicated and passionate about the sport,” said Moss.
General Manager of Basketball Operations, Todd Flahey, was happy with the recent appointment.
“Jarryd has made a great first impression at the Under 18 State Championships, showing a willingness to learn and get his hands dirty. I believe with time Jarryd will become a real asset to our competitions team and our organisation,” said Flahey.
As he steps into his role, Jarryd's major focus early on is the NBL1 North and supporting the Competitions Team in their respective roles but he is eager to meet with associations, build connections, and explore ways to enhance and support our competitions.
“I think we’ll be able to achieve some great things in the competitions space this year.”
Jarryd commenced his position on January 8, 2024.
